25 Creative Ways to Propose

    1. Make a video
Making a personal video of yourself proposing to her can have a great effect, especially if you are watching it with her. She will likely jump from joy and want to skip straight to the honeymoon…
    2. In mid-air
A more public display of affection is to have the captain of an airplane you are on recite your marriage proposal to your woman over the intercom. You can just picture it: “We are now flying over the Grand Canyon and will be arriving at our destination in approximately 45 minutes. And, by the way, Joanna, Michael would like to know if you would do him the honor of marrying him.”
    3. Indecent proposal
The ultimate way to ask your woman to marry you would be during an intense lovemaking session. Popping the question while bringing her to ecstasy is one of the ultimate thrills for a woman. Imagine your woman climaxing physically and emotionally. She is not likely to forget that day anytime soon.

    1. The love police
Although this one requires quite a bit of work and coordination, getting your girlfriend pulled over by a real cop to give her a “love ticket” is quite unexpected and very original.
    2. Radio dedication
If you know she listens to the radio at a certain time everyday, making a dedication will work charms with her. Except that this one will have the disc jockey asking your girlfriend to marry you. A good follow-up is to call her while the question is being asked. If you want to be more personal, you can also ask your girl to marry you live on the air.
    3. Rent a billboard…
and drive by it one afternoon while you’re together. You can contact a large company such as EMC Outdoor that offers billboards throughout the US and Canada. You could also check the yellow pages for local billboard advertising.
    4. Put your proposal up…
with the ads before a movie and take your sweetie early to see the show. You can contact your local theater for advertising information or contact a large theater such as Regal Cinemas for advertising information.
    5. Sky write it.
Contact a local skywriting company and plan to have them display your proposal on a clear afternoon while you’re out. One idea… spend a Saturday afternoon at the beach (or a lake?) and arrange for the skywriting while you’re there.
    6. Have a plane fly a banner.
Like the skywriting, you need to make sure you do this on a clear day. Plan a romantic outside date and they’ll be pleasantly surprised when you ask what that banner says as the plane goes by. Your best bet in setting this up is to contact local companies to see if they or someone else provides this service. Arnold Aerial offers this service nationwide or check your local phone book for a local company.
    7. Put an ad in the local paper.
This is incredibly easy to do and very inexpensive. You can place a classified ad, such as ‘Seeking single female/male named such-and-such to spend her/his life with me’. Or, you could up the ante and place a larger graphical ad with a picture of the two of you and your proposal. Contact your local paper for prices and details.
    8. Have a large banner made…
by BannerGram and surprise her with it over your garage when she arrives home.

    9. Airport proposal.
If you’ll be picking your sweetie up at the airport soon, give this one a try. Plan ahead to have friends and family at the airport with you waiting for her arrival. Create a large banner with the words “Will you marry me?” on it and have everyone holding it up with you at the ‘me’ end. Or, create several small banners with one letter on each spelling out “Will you marry me?” (again, with you holding the me?). When she arrives and sees her surprise, get down on one knee and propose.

    1. Newspaper Ad.
Take out a full-page ad in a newspaper you know your girlfriend reads daily.
    2. Caricaturist Proposal.
Arrange a surprise proposal with a street caricaturist. Have him sketch a picture of you two with word bubbles. Yours will read, “Will you Marry Me?”, and hers will say, “Yes!”
    3. Send your girlfriend on a treasure hunt.
Start with a clue at home, then send her on a tour of your favorite spots all over town. When she gets to the last hint, the prize should be you on one knee.
    4. Simple yet romantic
For a simple surprise, after she goes to bed, go to her jewelry box and replace her everyday ring with the engagement ring. She’ll be completely shocked in the morning when she goes to put on her regular ring.
    5. Waking up with a bang.
Slip the ring on her finger while she’s sleeping and wake her with champagne and strawberries. At first, the gesture will simply seem romantic — the real surprise comes when she notices her new piece of jewelry.
    6. YouTube Proposal.
Upload a video of your proposal on YouTube (tell her you have a hysterical home movie to show her).
    7. Steal her digital camera…
and head to her favorite local outdoor spot. Bring a friend with you and have posters made with the words “will,” “you,” “marry,” “me?” Have your friend photograph you holding each one in a different position. Then, let her know you borrowed her camera and ask if she will upload your photos.

  1. Create your own crossword puzzle
(it’s easy with this site) and be prepared to help her work it out over breakfast.
  2. Spell out your proposal
    with refrigerator magnets.
  3. Get a ring size chart
and ask your girlfriend to look up her size. When she accuses you of ruining the surprise that you’re shopping for a ring, say, “Okay, try this one instead,” and show her that you’ve already shopped for a ring.
  4. Play Hangman
and have the phrase be “Marry Me.”
  5. Buy a pet that she has always wanted…
(bunny, kitten, puppy) and loosely tie the ring around its neck. Or, substitute a stuffed animal — still cute, but less maintenance!
  6. Make her ring the surprise
in a box of Cracker Jacks.
