WTC

I know where I was and I remember that day like it was yesterday. The images are still instilled in my head like a bad horror flick, watching it live on TV as it happened, was just something that I will never, ever forget.

I first heard about the attack after people commenting on a plane hitting the antenna of one of the towers, then after people were “calmed” because it was just “the antenna” a few minutes later more people stated that it wasn’t the antenna but a plane going right through the tower.

That’s when the TV went on and as I had happened to be up working early that day, I watched the next few hours as the second plane hit, people jumping out of the building in desperation, both buildings burning in flames, and then watching the building collapse one after the other.

College mates, shed tears and comforted each other as our faces were as confused as the millions of people that were watching that day.

Reaching our relatives was also very hard, as the phone lines were so busy that it took 3-4 hours maybe even more, just to get through. Most classes were canceled for the day, as it was way too hard to remain focused.

September 11, 2001 was one of the saddest day I have ever experienced.

7 years later and counting, and it still feels unreal…

One reply on “Where Were You on September 11th, 2001?”

I was at work and heard about it as word spread from co-workers who heard it on the radio. Conference room TVs were turned on and people gathered to watch. We were let out early because we were in a high building in Cleveland. When I got home, my husband and I both watched on TV for awhile. He was let out early too. Then we went to play tennis because it was a beautiful day and we just couldn't watch any longer–it was too shocking and sad!
