Fall Back this Weekend

Remember the saying:
Spring Forward, Fall Back

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 am on Sunday,
November 2. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour.

Also, change those smoke alarm batteries this weekend as well.

The FDNY’s Fire Safety Education Unit is urging you to change the battery in your smoke alarm when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time on Nov. 2.

Although more than 97 percent of homes have a least one smoke alarm, the majority of fire deaths occur in homes without an alarm or in homes where the alarm was not operable due to a missing or dead battery. And home fires are the leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1 to 9.
So teams of Fire Safety Educators will be in communities throughout the five boroughs starting October 30, giving away fresh 9-volt batteries for smoke alarms.
This important campaign is made possible through the FDNY Foundation, the official fundraising organization for the FDNY.
Members of the FDNY will distribute batteries and fire safety information at the following locations:
Saturday, November 1
Manhattan
Corner of West 18th Street and 9th Avenue
12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Friday, October 31
Queens
Jamaica Centre Parsons/Archer Train Station
4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Brooklyn
Coney Island TerminalCorner of Stillwell and Surf Avenues
4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Staten Island
Staten Island Ferry-St. George
4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Manhattan
Union Square Park 14th Street and Broadway
12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Manhattan
NY Hilton Times Square – 234 West 42nd St between 7th and 8th Avenues
