2009 Hip Hop Theater Festival

The 2009 NYC Hip Hop Theater Festival …is 3 weeks of art, dance and theater by, for and about the Hip-Hop generation. For nine years and counting the Festival has pushed the boundaries of performance, defining and redefining the art and aesthetic of Hip-Hop. (HHTF)

October 1 – October 17
Ohio Theater
66 Wooster St
New York, NY 10012
In SOHO – between Spring and Broome

The festival is broken into three themes:

1. Classical elements of hip-hop (music; break dancing; graffiti)
2. Family-friendliness (a children’s show; a show for youth, by youth; spoken word performances)
3. Women leading the way forward (reading series; women-centric performances). Included in these various performances are fully produced theater works, staged readings, educational panels, dance showcases and workshops all in celebration of the Hip-Hop movement.
