What’s on DVD Tuesday 2/8/11?!
For Colored Girls
I didn’t see this movie yet, I heard it was a tear jerker movie. Sounds like a movie I need to watch at home by myself. Anyways, here’s more info about the movie…
Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, and Whoopi Goldberg head up an all-star cast in a vibrant world where friends and strangers dream, fear, cry, love, and laugh out loud in an attempt to find their true selves. Adapted by writer/director Tyler Perry from Ntozake Shange’s acclaimed choreopoem, this gripping film paints an unforgettable portrait of what it means to be a woman of color in the modern world. I Spit on your Grave
Looking for a scary movie that will knock your socks off, well based on this description I think this is the one…
UNFORGIVING. UNCOMPROMISING. UNMERCIFUL. UNRATED. The original version was reviled, condemned, and banned around the world for its on-screen depictions of depravity and violence. Now experience the acclaimed remake that dares to go even further: Jennifer Hills (a fearless performance by Sarah Butler) is a big-city novelist who rents an isolated country cabin to write her new book. But when she is brutally raped by a group of sadistic rednecks, Jennifer has plans for more than mere revenge. One-by-one she will find them. She will inflict horrific acts of agonizing torment upon them. And no jury in America would ever convict her. (Amazon)
Paranormal Activity 2
I have yet to watch part 1, I don’t think I’ll ever will, therefore part 2 will not be seen by me. But word on the street is that Part 1 was better than 2.
“Paranormal Activity 2 is as groundbreaking as the original.”* Just as Dan and Kristi welcome a newborn baby into their home, a demonic presence begins terrorizing them, tearing apart their perfect world and turning it into an inescapable nightmare. Security cameras capture the torment, making every minute horrifyingly real. Critics warn to “say good-bye to sleep”** as Paranormal Activity 2 will haunt you long after it’s shocking final scene. My Soul To Take
Another scary movie to add to your list this Tuesday. My Soul To Take directed by Wes Craven.
The supernatural/serial killer thriller My Soul to Take marks Wes Craven’s first feature as writer and director since 1994’s inventive New Nightmare, and at first blush, it finds him in familiar territory. Here again, as in his iconic Nightmare on Elm Street series, his focus is a vicious murderer who appears to continue his crime spree from beyond the grave, and who concentrates his attention on a group of teens connected to his original crimes (seven of them were born on the night he died).
