5 Free iPad Apps That Will Make You Say WOW!

ipad 2 boxI’ve recently received my iPad 2 after a long, but patient and worthwhile wait. First and foremost I’ll say that I love my iPad, the possibilities with this new gadget are endless. Anyways, I wanted to share these five amazing apps that truly made me say WOW.

As a blogger I love to read books and magazines to keep up with new and interesting stuff. Even though I still have a few print magazine subscriptions, I am loving the transition into the digital magazine world and this is where a wonderful app like Zinio comes into place. Zinio is the Netflix for magazines. Browse through hundreds of titles you can either purchase an issue or a digital subscription. Zinio gives you a free trial issue to a magazine of your choice and two additional magazines randomly chosen for you. Give it a try, it would definitively make you say WOW.

Even before getting an iPad I always wanted to get Flipboard, without knowing what it was exactly, I knew it had something to do with a magazine layout and reading news. I just didn’t quite get it, until I got the iPad and downloaded it. WOW! Amazing! Flipboard makes your Twitter Tweets and Facebook Statuses a whole lot more interesting. It’s hard to describe, it just makes it look a lot more nicer and friendly instead of overwhelming and boring. It’s one of those things you have to see for yourself.

As a TV person that rarely has time to watch live TV, I usually catch my favorite shows and movies later on after the show has already aired, either through Netflix or the network’s internet channel. Anyways, ABC has a few of those shows that I can’t watch when they first come on, and this is when the ABC Player app comes in handy, for people like me. It allows me to catch up on previous, this season’s episodes, such as Desperate Housewives and Shark Tank, and the HD Quality is definitively something to WOW about.

The TWCable TV app is perfect for those of us that are a) TimeWarner Cable customers with cable and internet connection through TWCable  and b) if you don’t have more than one cable box at home and you want to watch TV from the other room, the kitchen, the laundry room or even the bathroom. Yes, this app rocks! The only downside is that you can’t get all your channels on there, but I’m happy with the ones they currently have. Apparently some networks feel a certain way about this particular iPad app.  Moving on…

Last but not least is the built in Calendar app – as a person that likes to keep my life somewhat organized I make use of my calendar apps, whether it’s on my iPad, iPhone or computer, I like to use it as much as I can. The calendar app on the iPad even though is the same calendar app as on the iPhone it just looks better on the iPad. It has that personal journal look when you open it, makes me feel like all I’m missing is the pen so I can start writing my meetings down.
One thing I wish it did have is colors and decals I can use to differentiate business and pleasure; maybe they’ll have an update for it soon, but I’m not holding my breath.

So there you have it, five free iPad apps that made me say wow and I hope did the same for you.

Do you have any iPad apps that have made you say WOW?! Please share in the comments section.
