Fiber-Up Your Mornings with Kellogg’s FiberPlus Cereal

This year I have changed my eating habits a bit especially when it comes to my favorite meal of the day, breakfast. I’m a cereal eater; I love cereal with milk, without milk, and sometimes with ice cream (don’t ask). But there are times when I tell myself, let’s pick a better, much healthier cereal to eat, and that’s when I search for something that looks like it tastes good and also has healthy nutrition facts.
When it comes to the nutrition facts, my main concerns are how much Fiber will I get, how much sugar is in the cereal and how much protein.

  • I look at Fiber because it helps regulate my digestive system, in other words it helps clean my digestive system out. Fiber also helps get rid of the belly bulge, according to studies, people who eat high fiber diets tend to be slimmer than those who don’t. In other words, Fiber is good for you; anything above 5 grams is on my list.
  • I also look at how much Sugar is in the cereal, the less grams of sugar the better. These abs are not going to magically appear, I try to keep my sugar/carbs intake somewhat low. Anything above 20 grams is too much of a high number for sugars, so put the box back.

  • And finally, Protein. Protein is good for a lot of things, healthy growing, repairing and maintenance of body tissues. Just like fiber, protein is good to have, so the more protein the better. A recommended amount of protein for a healthy adult should be about as follows: 47 g for a 130 lb. (59 kg) woman, or 66 g for a 180 lb. (82 kg) man.

Recently I had the opportunity to try a new fiber and antioxidant rich cereal: Kellogg’s FiberPlus. At the moment it comes in two great flavors, Berry Yogurt Crunch and Cinnamon Oat Crunch.

The Berry Yogurt Crunch cereal is good as a snack and with milk. Think of it as a Special K Fruit and Yogurt cereal, only fortified with fiber and antioxidants. It is amazingly delicious for being a high fiber cereal. I love that it is loaded with fiber (10 grams,) and not so much sugar (12 grams), and with 3 grams of protein, it keep my body and muscles healthy. I enjoyed this cereal with milk and without milk as an afternoon snack.

The Cinnamon Oat Crunch cereal is also great tasting. Think of it as Honey Nut Cheerios with 3x times the fiber and a bit of cinnamon. The Cinnamon Oat Crunch is also great with milk and without milk for an afternoon snack, and with 9 grams of fiber, 7 grams of sugar, and 3 grams of protein, your body will love you for this healthy change in your busy lifestyle.

I love that Kellogg’s has come out with these two new fiber and antioxidant rich cereals, it is hard enough to find a cereal that is high in fiber and also great tasting. So the search to stay healthier this year is over, add these two new cereals to your grocery list and start living and feeling healthier.

Please note: I have received compensation for participation in the FiberPlus Cereal campaign from Kellogg’s. )
