Redesigning is a major part of blogging. If you’ve been following my blog for some time, you been through the redesigning process with me.
KMP Blog has come a long way, since it’s birth in 2008 til this very present day. It has gone from Blogspot/Blogger to WordPress.com and WordPress.org. It has had several domain name changes, from (kmposted.blogspot.com, keepmepostedblog.com to KMPBlog.com). It has also had several layout redesigns as well, to better suit my readers’ needs as well as my blog’s needs.
Using the Wayback Machine to look back at the way KMP Blog used to look like back in previous years, I was amazed to be able to relive those blogging memories.
Below are some of KMP Blog’s old designs from 2008-Present:
In 2008, KMP Blog was under Blogspot/Blogger, this layout was pretty simple and easy to use.
In 2009, KMP Blog was redesigned to this cooler 3 column layout. I loved this layout, eventhough the header took a lot of space on top, which is bad for your SEO and visitors, I loved this Blogger/Blogspot layout.
In late 2009, early 2010, I added navigation tabs on the header and other cool widgets to the page. This layout rocks, lol. Looking back at it, I kinda miss it, and mad they didn’t have it for WordPress.org.
In 2010, I was already seeing how popular my blog was getting, but I also knew I wanted to move it over to WordPress. In February 2010, I started the blogspot to wordpress migration and this was the new layout. Not as “pretty” and appealing on the eyes as my previous layouts, but more content generated, and SEO friendlier than the layouts before.
Blogging is part of my life and it is something that I know will be around with me for a very long time. Change is scary, but I’m always open for change. I’m already looking forward to what KMP Blog will look like in 5 more years.
How about you? When was the last time you’ve redesigned and reimaged your own life, blog, and/or career?! Share your thoughts in the comments section.
