The alarming dropout rate for Hispanic students can be changed thanks to your collaboration with City Year, a program that not only benefits the students at risk but also those who become their mentors.

City Year offers many benefits and you have until April 30th, to apply to become a candidate and take advantage of City Year AmeriCorps, a program that will develop your leadership skills while you drive others to succeed.  Your professional future starts here.

It is an undisputed fact that education has the power to transform a person’s life; however, low-income Hispanic children often lack the conditions necessary to take full advantage of it and the contact with teachers and mentors they can relate to who can be a role model for personal development and success.

City Year works in high-poverty communities to bridge the gap between the support that students actually need and what their schools are designed and able to provide.

At City Year’s 26 locations across the United States and two international affiliates, groups of young adults, our AmeriCorps members, work full-time in schools for 11 months providing individualized support to at-risk students and the skills they need to be successful and become future college students.

The mission of these young mentors is to provide students with one-on-one and small group tutoring in literacy and math, social and emotional learning support, and after school programming.

What is most exciting about this process is that you can really make a difference joining City Year where you build your career and develop leadership skills while establishing a network of contacts with City Year alumni who are career professionals working across every sector and can now become your best allies.

While a City Year AmeriCorps member you will be provided health insurance, basic living expenses, uniforms and a modest stipend. Upon conclusion of your service, you will also receive a $5,730 Segal Education Award.

Other benefits available to the members of City Year AmeriCorps include gaining skills and general knowledge in key areas that impact students in these high-poverty communities, including education, healthcare, business and even the law.

You have until April 30th to take advantage of this unique opportunity to join City Year and we put it all within your reach – visit https://gateway.cityyear.org/register-now.cfm.  Take advantage of the program with the potential to change your professional future and motivate and inspire in others the will to succeed!
