In Time

In the future, time has become the ultimate currency and genetic alteration has allowed people to stop aging at 25 years old. Drive

Amazing performance by Ryan Gosling, Drive is a must-see-Oscar-worthy movie.

Real Steel

At first I did not know what to expect from this film, but after watching, I realized how much into the movie I was in. This movie was awesome, and it makes the perfect family movie. You will, laugh, scream, yell “Go Atom”, from the very edge of your seat. It will get you emotional at times, but I can sincerely say I can watch this movie again and again.

Sometime in the not-too-distant future, boxing has been outlawed and replaced by fighting matches with robots. Big robots. Hulking, rock ‘em, sock ‘em mechanical robots. But if those machines are cutting edge, Real Steel sticks to an old-fashioned style of storytelling, with a tale of a down-and-out fight manager (Hugh Jackman) looking for a good ‘bot to get back in the game, and get back out of debt. 50/50

50/50 was a very interesting movie, probably because it was inspired by a true story. I enjoy Seth Rogen comedies and even though 50/50 had its funny moments, I felt weird laughing at the jokes, due to the sensitive nature of the disease. The actors all did an amazing job, which made the film more enjoyable and somewhat less weird.

Diagnosed with spinal cancer, 27-year-old Adam (Gordon-Levitt) navigates the road to recovery with the sometimes overbearing support of his crude best friend (Rogen), his smothering mother (Anjelica Huston) and an inexperienced therapist (Anna Kendrick). Inspired by a true story, 50/50 is an honest, yet hysterically funny, account of a young man’s journey toward healing.

Paranormal Activity 3

This is one of those movies that will take some guts for me to watch it, I guess that makes it a really good scary movie.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 takes audiences back to where it all began with the masterminds behind the first two films returning to craft a hauntingly chilling follow up. Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the filmmakers who created the unsettling sensation Catfish, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3 achieved the biggest theatrical debut for a horror film ever, ultimately earning more than $200 million worldwide.

Fright Night (2011)

Some people enjoyed the original 1985 version, I honestly enjoyed the 2011 version of Fright Night. It was scary, funny and entertaining. Colin Farrell’s performance was fantastic, and he made his character very enjoyable to watch. A cameo appearance of a character from the 1985 version will surprise you. Fright Night is definitively a rent it DVD. So don’t forget to rent or buy via Amazon this week.

Kung Fu Panda 2

I love Kung Fu Panda! Jack Black is extremely funny and makes Po really entertaining. Kung Fu Panda 2 was not disappointing at all, sequels aren’t always that great, but this one did not let us down. Kung Fu Panda 2 is definitely an OWN DVD, because you and your kids will want to watch it over and over. Amazon has a great deal on the Kung Fu Panda 2 / Secrets of the Masters (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) for $22.99.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I’ve never watched the original Planet of the Apes series so I can’t really compare the new versions to the previous versions, all I know is that Rise of the Planet of the Apes is by far my favorite Planet of the Apes film thus far. Absolutely, fascinating performance by all the characters; it draws you right in. This film was so good I am actually uber excited for its release tomorrow. Definitely a must OWN! Trusty Amazon has an awesome deal on Rise of the Planet of the Apes (Two-Disc Edition Blu Ray + DVD/Digital Copy Combo) for $22.99. Worth every penny!

The Help

30 Minutes or Less

Rambunctious and unpredictable, action-comedy 30 Minutes or Less manages to be simultaneously cynical and softhearted, which is quite a trick. A disgruntled pizza delivery guy named Nick (The Social Network‘s Jesse Eisenberg) gets his life hijacked by two dimwitted yet canny thugs (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson), who need $100,000 to hire a hit man–so they strap a bomb to Nick and order him to rob a bank. So many little twists and turns follow that it would ruin the fun to describe the plot any further; suffice it to say that 30 Minutes or Less takes a high-concept idea and grounds it in well-written characters, an outstanding cast, and some brutally funny bits.
