What’s on DVD Tuesday, September 22, 2009?!

Observe and ReportObserve and Report

With sublime awkwardness, Seth Rogen throws himself into the role of a deluded, socially inept shopping mall security guard. Ronnie Barnhardt (Rogen) protects his little kingdom with a mixture of grandiose passion and borderline incompetence; he can’t catch a flasher in the parking lot or a thief with inside connections because his prejudices and desires cloud his ability to see what’s right in front of him–all he can see is the trashy cosmetics salesgirl Brandi (Anna Faris) who thinks he’s nothing but a creep. Though he resents the intrusion of a police detective (Ray Liotta), Ronnie decides to pursue his true dream: Becoming a cop so he can carry a gun.(Amazon)

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

McConaughey plays a womanizer named Conner Mead far from settling down who is forced to take a Christmas Carol-type journey through girlfriends of his past, present and future while attending his brother’s wedding weekend. Jenny (Garner) is the childhood sweetheart and longstanding object of his affection. Will he be able to grow up and admit his love for Jenny before the weekend is over, or will he continue his man-whore ways and lose her forever? (Amazon)

30 Rock – Season 3

Warning: The third season of 30 Rock may cause fits of “lizzing” (an elevated state of hilarity that involves laughter plus whizzing) with its brilliantly loopy word play, “what the what” situations, and deft turns by a stellar roster of A-list guest stars. Liz Lemon (Emmy-winning geek goddess Tina Fey) trying to avoid jury duty by dressing as Princess Leia? Jenna (Jane Krakowski) starring in a biopic about Janis Joplin (or Jackie Jomp-Jomp due to rights complications that forbid use of Joplin’s name and music)? Steve Martin as a fabulously wealthy agoraphobe? I want to go to there! (Amazon)

Law & Order – Special Victims Unit – The Tenth Year

Primetime Emmy® Award nominee Chris Meloni is Detective Elliot Stabler, and he stars with Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson – the role that earned her five Primetime Emmy® Award nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
