Thursday, August 5, 2010 was a great day for Bloggers in NYC, with BlogHer Conference kicking off in NYC, many companies as well as bloggers took the opportunity to keep our schedules busy with fun networking events.
My evening started with a presentation about an amazing new way to shop, buy and sell. In this presentation we were introduced to The OpenSky Project. I personally haven’t yet tried OpenSky, but the great thing about OpenSky is that you don’t have to have a product to sell, you can be a seller and not a supplier or you can be both. Think of it as product reviewing on your blog and actually earning a profit for each product you sell. Or if you have a product you would like to sell, you can find bloggers/editors that can post the product on their site to sell to their audience. It sounds like a wonderful idea and I think many people can benefit from this so I definitively suggest you check out their website.
Now, that I’ve told you about the OpenSky platform and a bit about the presentation, I have to tell you about the event itself. The presentation was held at Hearst Corporation Building.
That building is BEAUTIFUL! The lobby alone is heavenly. I LOVE glossies! And if I could work anywhere and be super happy it would be between the Condé Nast building and the Hearst Corporation building; magazine publishing companies sure know how to make you feel like you in heaven.
After the presentation we were provide free rides to OpenSky main office which is located on West 18th Street. On our way out the Hearst Corporation building we were given thank you bags filled with the following: a Smashbox Photo Finish foundation primer bottle, current issue of Redbook magazine, a few informational sheets about OpenSky as well as thank you letter from Estee Lauder’s CEO, and last but definitively not least, The Lash Portfolio by Clinique USA – This was neatly wrapped in paper, at first you think it was a book, but when you unwrap it and open it you are taken away… 9 different types of Clinique mascaras ranging from Primer to Defining, this was a very special gift.
The After Party:
The after party was at OpenSky’s HQ is located on 18 West 18th Street. Not too far from the Wix Lounge.
This was one really good after party, filled with beer, wine, lobster hoagies, Burger sliders, we are happy bloggers, and the night had only begun…
