Night of the Animated Dead now available on Blu-ray – an animated twist to an all-time classic

Own Night of the Animated Dead now on Digital and Blu-ray and DVD on 10/5.

In Night of the Animated Dead, siblings Barbara and Johnny visit their father’s grave in a remote cemetery in Pennsylvania when they are suddenly set upon by zombies. Barbara flees and takes refuge in an abandoned farmhouse along with stranded motorist Ben and four local survivors found hiding in the cellar. Together, the group must fight to stay alive against the oncoming horde of zombies while also confronting their own fears and prejudices.

At first I was slightly confused if this was going to be a newer version of the original night of the living dead, but as I continued to watch, I soon realized it was the original Night of the Living Dead only animated, hence the name.

I enjoyed that the graphics weren’t too modernize, I like the vintage/retro look and feel of it. Many describe it as something a beginner animator would come up with; but again, I get the look of it. It didnt need to be fancy, it just needed to retell the original story in a more animated way.

I honestly have watched the original movie once or twice in my lifetime, and even as I try to find it now, it is very difficult to find it on streaming services, as these films are rarely rewatched by the newer generations. I can totally see how this animated version can give a taste of the original and grab the attention of younger generations to watch a classic in a somewhat modern way.
