The Pokémon Company International released the latest expansion in the best-selling Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks. The expansion is available beginning November 8, 2024 at participating retailers worldwide, including Pokémon Center, the premier online destination for official Pokémon merchandise.
We preordered our Surging Sparks Elite Trainer Box via the Pokémon Center and it arrived on 11/8/2024. The Pokémon Center’s ETB comes with 11 booster packs and 2 Magneton promo cards. Surging Sparks bought at other retailers will only come with 9 booster packs and one Magneton promo card (hence the price difference).
In Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks, players can continue to discover beautifully radiant Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including Pikachu ex with its strikingly powerful Topaz Bolt attack. Fans of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk will notice that in this expansion, they can collect and battle with cards themed around the Terarium — the artificial paradise first introduced in the DLC for the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games — and discover the towering Alolan Exeggutor as a Stellar Tera Pokémon ex alongside other powerful Dragon-type Pokémon.
Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks is now available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and special collections at participating retailers worldwide. In addition, select products from the expansion are now available at Pokémon Center in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
So what great hits did we get from the Surging Sparks Pokémon Center ETB. Not many great hits, and definitely no PIKACHU EX :'(
Below is a screenshot of the rares found in the 11 booster packs. In addition, if you are trying to complete the set, this ETB was great at not having many duplicates with approximately 68% of the cards non-duplicates, and actually, some of the duplicates were the other versions of the cards, such as the foil version. I am curious to know if most ETB boxes are about the same or higher percentage.
In celebration of the launch of Scarlet & Violet—Surging Sparks, a gift will be available with any Pokémon TCG purchase of $15 or more (enter code: quaxlycardus at checkout). Trainers will receive Sprigatito and Terapagos promo cards from GameStop; Fuecoco and Terapagos promo cards from Best Buy; and Quaxly and Terapagos promo cards from Pokémon Center. Each promo card will feature the “Pokémon Horizons: The Series” logo and will be available starting 11/8/24, while supplies last.[1]
