Last week I saw a sneak preview of the new The Muppets movie, that is scheduled to come out in theaters, Wednesday, November 23, 2011.
Before I begin I must say that I am a huge Muppets fan. I grew up watching The Muppets ever since I was very young, (yes, The Muppets were a big hit in the Dominican Republic as well). I would sit in front of my black and white TV and have fun watching The Muppets. Those were the days. I can’t say I had a favorite character, they were all very likeable and loveable, I wanted them all. I did own a few Kermit the Frog toys, puzzle games and coloring books. Miss Piggy, Gonzo and the MeMe character (can’t remember his name), stood out the most, at least to me.
It’s amazing how watching the gang still makes me smile like a little kid. The Muppet Show is very exciting to me, and if you grew watching them you most likely can relate. Like take a look at this clip below, from a very old episode of The Muppet Show. Tell me you are not excited to watch this?!
Now, that was entertaining, and nostalgic. But like I said, some of you might get it, some of might not. Those of you that didn’t grew up watching The Muppets, will most likely not get it. You will wonder what’s so special about a Muppet Show, it’s just stuffed looking animals/hand puppets, singing and trying to be funny, that’s kids stuff. Sigh! It’s very entertaining! You bond with the characters and they somewhat become more than just “muppets”. It’s hard to explain, lol.
Anyways, so now let’s speed it up to the 2011 Muppets Movie, which was absolutely amazing. (Click here to watch the trailer.)
Loved, loved The Muppets Movie! When Kermit came on the screen, I think a tear ran down my cheek, lol, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one. Moving on… The entire movie is wonderful, the characters all look the same, sound the same. The jokes are still funny, the gang is still very entertaining and the singing is just as catchy. Catchy enough to make me purchase the soundtrack, which came out yesterday and it is now available on iTunes for $9.99 or on Amazon for $6.99.
So this Thanksgiving, be thankful for all that you have, so that you may continue to receive more, but also, make time to go down memory lane and if you care about The Muppets, then I shouldn’t tell you to go see this movie. If you don’t care about the Muppets, you should still go see it, maybe you’ll get it. :-)
