The 2011 NY Times Travel Show Highlights

Travel Show Blogger seminar

Every year The New York Times holds a Travel Show convention at the Jacob Javits Center, where travelers, vacationers, travel agencies and of course destinations come together for one weekend, to entice us with their many options and adventures. This year, KMP Blog was given the opportunity to cover the travel show and as with any opportunity we are always thankful for the opportunity.
As a person that loves to travel and share tips via social media and my blog, the travel show was the perfect place to be. The thing about the NY Times Travel Show is that it comes at the perfect time, early in the year to help you plan your next vacation, getaway, etc.

Dominican Republic has it all

As I made myself in the convention center, I found myself at home, literally, the place I saw was Dominican Republic! My country of birth, my isla bonita! The Dominican Republic had many hotels/resorts to check out, some that caught my attention were Barcelo (which I stayed when I went to Puerto Plata), The Majestic (a new all inclusive resort located in Punta Cana) and of course Casa de Campo (although not all-inclusive, this place is the cream of the crop, if you can afford to stay here you are rolling with the big dawgs).

Travel Bloggers at NYTimes Travel Show 2011Before I proceeded to check out some of what the other countries had to offer, I made my way to one of the many seminars available. This one in particular was “Travel Wiser with Bloggers.” Five (5) fascinating travel bloggers (Jen Leo, Robert Reid, David Farley, Andrew Evans, and Kim Mance), spoke about ways to use social media when traveling, sharing info with your readers, and they also mentioned several websites that might be useful if you’re a travel blogger. (I’ll share those in a different post).

Aruba One Happy Island After the seminar I made my way back upstairs where I bumped into several destination hot spots that you might consider visiting this year. Amongst them some of my personal favorites, Aruba (One Happy Island), Cancun and Stowe (Vermont).

Miss Jamaica at the Travel ShowSome other really cools spots that are on my bucket list to visit, maybe this year if not in the years to come, include Barbados, Jamaica, Curacao, China and Alaska. Yes, Alaska is on my list, because I want to see the Aurora Borealis.

Traveling is one fun hobby/lifestyle. I’m interested in knowing what’s on your bucket list? Which destinations do you plan to visit this or in the years to come?!
